…..at Monterey Park.

Mesa just did something no other city in Arizona has done. They built an Express Library.

Once fully functional, this library will sit unmanned. Library card holders with expanded access will use their pin to access the library. Inside the kiosks are self-serve and for questions, computer consoles can pull up a video chat with a librarain sitting at another location.

Lockers outside (think amazon parcel type) will house books on hold for those who reserved them online.

To get expanded access, residents of Mesa can visit any full service Library and speak with a staff member.

In November, library staff will be onsite Monday through Thursday from 10am-6pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am-5pm (excluding holidays).

There is also a tot lot play area just outside the new building, restrooms, and a storywalk as well as a small amphitheater that will hold future events and story times once it is staffed fully.

Its also the site of brand new baseball fields and that will soon host local little leagues.

Steps away is the original playground structure with two playsets. One is the giant “Quantis” climber.

Hours will be Monday through Saturday: 7:00 am – 8:00 pm.

7045 E. Monterey Avenue, Mesa AZ 85209.
